Article Processing Charges (APC)2
1. Current APC Rates
| Author Category | APC Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nigerian authors (corresponding author with Nigerian institutional affiliation) | ₦50,000 | Per accepted article at inception |
| International authors (corresponding author with non-Nigerian affiliation) | USD $120 | Per accepted article at inception |
| RMRDC staff and affiliated researchers | Waiver eligible | Subject to waiver application |
APC rates are reviewed periodically by the Editorial Board based on operational realities and global benchmarking. Authors will always be notified of the applicable rate at the time of acceptance.
2. What the APC Covers
Revenue from APCs supports the following essential journal operations:
- Editorial management and peer review coordination
- Professional copyediting and language editing
- Typesetting and PDF/HTML production
- DOI registration via CrossRef
- Digital preservation and archiving (LOCKSS)
- Indexing and metadata submission to databases
- Journal platform maintenance and technical support
3. When the APC is Charged
- No charge at submission — APCs are never charged to authors simply for submitting a manuscript.
- Charged only upon acceptance — The APC invoice is issued after the Editor-in-Chief issues a formal acceptance decision and all revisions have been approved.
- Payment before production — The manuscript enters the production queue after APC payment is confirmed. The expected turnaround from payment to publication is 2–3 weeks.
4. Payment Methods
Payment methods and banking details are communicated directly to corresponding authors upon acceptance. JORMAR accepts bank transfer and other methods as advised in the acceptance communication. All payment queries should be directed to [email protected].
5. APC Waiver Policy
JORMAR is committed to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent the publication of high-quality research. A waiver or discount may be granted in the following circumstances:
- Early-career researchers (within 5 years of completing a doctoral degree) with demonstrated financial need
- Research conducted on topics of strategic national priority as designated by RMRDC
- Invited review articles commissioned by the Editor-in-Chief
- Corresponding authors from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) as classified by the United Nations
- RMRDC staff and researchers affiliated with RMRDC-funded projects
Waiver requests must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission using the waiver request form in the submission portal. Waivers are granted at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief and are not guaranteed.
See the APC Waiver Policy for the full waiver application process.
